This lovely ceramic handpainted brooch was purchased from a gallery at Southbank Melbourne approximately 10 years ago.
The brooch features a mother and child in what appears to be their bathers.
It measures 8.5cm x 3.5cm. It is handpainted in a vibrant blue and is bordered in pure gold paint and then refired as it has a glossy finish. There are some tiny chips in the gold paint on the right hand side which you can clearly see in the photo but it does not deflect from the beauty of this piece. Actually it makes it more rustic and organic in my opinion which is how the painting is actually perceived.
There is a clip on the back and also the makers mark which is actually a face of a lady holding a rose.
